Good morning People! A happy Tuesday to you all! It's quite overcast here today, for the first day back at school. All the kiddies are on the way, dressed in their new clothes, headed for a new year. It's lovely to watch them in their excitement. For all the times you hear a child say they don't like school, it's funny how that changes on the first day. The get so excited and must wear their new clothes to look great. I remember being that way as a child. Though I didn't hate school as much as other kids. I actually secretly enjoyed learning. I would never have told a friend that back then, but it's true. I do remember thinking it was the end of the World to have Summer end, and the new school year begins. Then you get up that first day back, and as you start to get ready, the excitement sets in. You realize a new year brings new ideas, and new opportunities. Somehow that becomes exciting. Seeing your friends that you have missed all Summer, becomes a wonderful thing too. Then for all the reasons you have for hating school dissipate, and you realize how many reasons you have for going. I have to admit, I'm quite proud of my nephew. For his whole life, he fought about going to school, absolutely hated it!! Then as a 17 year old graduate, he shocked us all!! He told us he was going back this term, for Grade 13, or OAC (Ontario Academic Credits). He actually wants to go to college!!! I tell you, this was a surprise to us all, after all the many fights to go, or do his homework. I couldn't be more proud of him! I guess I share this story, for all you people who have kids in school, and they're having a hard time with them. Getting them up to go, or doing the work, whatever the case may be. Keep in mind how my Bug (Jamie) was. He hated it, and changed right around in the last year. So keep positive spirits, and maybe you will have the same luck with your child.
