Nature Notes

RAMBLING WOODS

I found this groovy moth one night while at my mom's.
Really never seen anything like it before. He even hung around for a couple of days.
Any ideas what this lil guy is actually called?

*UPDATE: Due to a great reader I now know this is a Giant Leopard Moth. Cooler still is they are not usually found in Canada, which is where I found it.*

My guess would be Giant Leopard Moth. A gorgeous critter in any case.

I'm glad Jennifer could ID as it is a very cool moth. I keep telling myself that I need to get out and look for moths..but of course it's dark when most of them are about. Some people use a light and a white sheet to take photos of them...great catch...Michelle

That is an unusual critter. I'm glad Jennifer knew what it was.
