Thematic Photographic: Rough (Attempt #2)

A gnarly tree we found on a walk.

These are Downy Woodpecker holes. But they're nothing compared to the other holes, that I have no clue how they got there.

This is one of the groovy holes in it. It's still living but will all this hollowness all around. Baffling!

Oh wow, that's quite a hole. It makes me wonder what caused it.

I can't work out whereabouts in the tree the large hole is or how far from the ground it is. If we knew this there might be a better chance of working out how it was formed.

It amazes me how life somehow finds a way to go on despite the roadblocks that are constantly being thrown in its path. This tree has heart...your pictures illustrate that in brilliant texture and colour!
