Wow .. I couldn't make out what it was at first sight, and thought it was a funny little fuzzy baby bird with a big beak! LOL!

Your magnolia is much further along than mine - but so are all my neighbours' magnolias! I think 'Susan' is a late blooming variety. She's worth the wait though, with stunning magenta buds which open to pale pink.
